SELF_E+ Project

Increasing the self-efficacy of adults from marginalized groups

Implementation period: 1 May 2025 – 30 June 2026

Project co-financed by the European Union.

KA210-ADU – Small-scale partnerships in adult education

Project No. 2024-2-PL01-KA210-ADU-000280399

The project combines the experiences of two very different contexts: the Lublin province , which is facing an influx of refugees from Ukraine, and Curaçao – an island with a post-colonial history, where descendants of slaves still fight for social recognition and agency. Despite their differences, both environments share a common goal: supporting people who feel excluded.

Project purpose:

The main objective of the project is to increase self-efficacy in adults from marginalized groups , such as:

  • refugees and immigrants,
  • people with disabilities,
  • elderly people,
  • ethnic and racial minorities,
  • people with mental illnesses,
  • people with lower economic status.

We believe that increasing the sense of agency translates into greater social engagement and a better position on the labor market.

What are we planning?

Mobility and training for trainers

  • 8 trainers from Poland and Curaçao will take part in training and exchange of experiences.
  • Participants will visit the headquarters of partner organizations – in Lublin and Willemstad.
  • Training topics include good educational practices, activation methods, ecology in adult education, and strategies for dealing with learned helplessness.

Development of modern educational materials

The SELF_E+ project will produce two key educational outcomes:

1. E-book – a publication describing good practices in working with adults from marginalized groups, developed jointly by partners from Poland and Curacao. It will contain 6 chapters presenting proven methods, approaches and experiences of both organizations. The e-book will be made available online free of charge in four languages: Polish, English, Dutch and Papiamentu.

2. Manual for educators: Overcome learned helplessness – be efficacy – a set of 60 practical exercises with worksheets for participants and ready-made lesson plans for trainers. The publication will be a tool supporting the development of self-efficacy in people with experience of social exclusion and learned helplessness. The manual will also be available online for free.
